I'm about halfway through this book so far and have found it the most helpful of the GED help books that I've read so far. I borrowed a couple other ones from my local library and found them to be much more difficult to comprehend. I had to take notes and re-read sections just to wrap my mind around the subject matter. The most useful thing about this book so far is that it tells you the simplest methods, including shortcuts for problem solving where other books tend to give it to you in the most complicated terminology and made me feel stupid because I couldn't understand what I was reading. So far I haven't been confused on anything that's been covered because it is written in easy to understand language with minimal wordiness and lots of examples fully explained so you can see everything they're talking about.The other good thing about this book is that it explains the different ways questions will be given to you on the actual test so you can be prepared for the way it will be formatted on test day. The practice tests (there are two in this book, though I haven't used them yet) are set up the way the real test is so it will already look familiar on test day. It also gives the government website where you can take a practice test online.
For $18, this book is definitely worth it considering I spent well over $50 on other books that didn't help at all, and in fact made me worse off because they made me think I could never pass the test since I didn't understand anything they were trying to teach. I almost gave up completely!
I have been putting off taking the GED test for a long time because I was sure I could never pass the math section. I have a better outlook now that I've been learning from this book and I'm pretty confident I will be able to pass when I'm finished reading it. When at first I was almost dreading having to re learn math skills, I now find it actually pleasant to read because I'm so excited that I'm actually learning from it. I highly recommend this book.

This book moves really fast if you have never learned a concept I do not suggest this book
It was helpful, but they really need to lay out the sample problems line by line instead of in long strings of text. It can be hard to decipher the instructions and steps for each problem. I passed the test, though. Also, the calculator tutorials were good (one leads to a syntax error, but the rest worked fine).
This is a fantastic book if you only need to work on the math portion of the GED. I am using it as a tutor and my student has already learned up through algebra in only one week. Simple, yet helpful- and the best part is that it is logically laid out so the concepts build on each other.
After dropping out of high school 22 years ago our son had to take his GED test for a job. Math had him stumped. So much harder on GED test now than when he was in school. He failed the test the first time but passed after using this guide which helped hi understand how to use the scientific calculator they allow during testing.
this is a great workbook for studying math, even if you aren't using it for the GED test. If you never really understood certain things in math that they taught from elementary through high school, or if you just need to refresh your knowledge before taking the GED or starting college, then this book should help you. It goes back and explains EVERYTHING-it even skims over addition in the beginning. It's also great because the paperback is pretty light weight but easy to work in. It even has pages for Notes and definitions of math words in the back. It really is an all in one math "tutor" book. The breakdowns are not too difficult to understand, nor are they kindergarten easy. I bought this because I haven't taken a real math class in over a year and need to pass the GED test, but I think this book could help anyone who is behind in math. I'll even keep this to refer back to when I'm in college. Also, make sure to order it from here on because the official GED website overcharges a few dollars more.

I bought this book for a refresher before an Algebra class, this book also shows how to use a calculator, entering the information, When I was in school we had to our brain and a No 2 pencil . Its a good book.
