What an amazing fantasy novel. Full characters and vivid fight scenes made this novel impossible to put down. I was reminded at times of David Gemmell's writing, and I can give no higher complement. Now on to the second book.Product details

Good read now need to know what happens next.don't take too long with the next installment
An excellent fantasy escape. If you are a fan of fantasy novels, this book has all the standard fare to enjoy with a delicately woven tale that I am sure is going to continue through a number of upcoming stories. The tale of Darien and his experience, which is the epic journey, but we find out there is more HOW the chess players are on the board than you would expect. There is a great deal of explanation to the backstory and even the components of magic, etc. His support and guidance of Jerris feels very much like a brotherly relationship as he coaches him along. It would be wonderful to see more of Darien's emotional side develop and the relationships between the other characters and Darien deepen in the next story. Very interested to know what is next.!
I would give this book 5 stars except for two things. I hated how Jerris was such a whine baby. Yes I know he was young but not good for the story. And when he took so much time explaining about magic I had to skip those pages. But really a great book and I will buy the next one. A very few errors in it but not enough to mess the story up.
This book kept me entertained on a long flight. It's worth a read.
